Please begin NOW to pray for the mission team that will be commissioned in worship next week and then travel to South Florida for 6 days to present a Vacation Bible School day camp in the inner-city mission center, Open House Ministries, sponsored by Cooperative Baptist Fellowship . This will be our 6th summer trip to work among the locals in Homestead who are keeping children safe from drugs, violence and gang activity as well as sharing the love and presence of Christ to families in crisis.
It is a privilege to carry surprises to the children there who are always enormously grateful. This year we are still in need of additional contributions to our stock of socks and toiletries to distribute; we expect to serve about 80 children, kindergarten through grade 5, plus 10 to 20 youth as well, who work in the center. So far we have only collected about one laundry basket of supplies. If you can help, please bring your donations to church this week (before Friday) and place them in the basket in the foyer.
Next Sunday in worship, you may pick up a prayer bracelet with a mission volunteer’s name on it to remind you to keep him/her in prayer all week. We need prayers for travel safety, for energy, and for effectiveness in our preparation and presentations.
