Dear Central Family,

I am still rejoicing over the great weekend we had at Central. What joy it was to see faces from long ago! What joy to see the great work we have done in our time as a church. And what joy to see so many from our church step up to make this weekend happen. A special thanks to all who made it come together.

But the good times do not stop with last weekend. I want to remind you about two things that are coming up.

First, remember that we have a special called church conference this Sunday morning to vote on bringing Matt Nelson as our Associate Pastor of Worship, Youth and Families. This conference will take place right after worship on Sunday, as Matt will lead our congregational music. Before Sunday, there are two important dates related to the conference:

  1. Tonight, September 9th at 6:30 pm, we will have our church communication meeting regarding the conference, where you can ask the search committee any questions that you would like about the process they went through in sensing God’s leadership to call Matt. Questions regarding the conference should be asked here, as the conference will be a simple up or down vote.
  2.   Saturday, September 12th at 6pm, we will having an ice cream social with Matt present, which will be an informal time for you to introduce yourself to him and get to know him in a casual way, and then we will gather in a circle for a question and answer session regarding his ministry and philosophy, his likes and dislikes.

The second thing coming up is The Story. You had a chance to see a preview of this Bible overview this last week in church, but starting October 4th, we will be walking through The Story with the whole church, from our pre-school department to our adult Sunday School classes. If you are not in a Sunday School class, we strongly urge you to sign up for a small group, so you can connect with this important program in our church, and we even more encourage you to bring and sign up friends for small groups.

This is a great way to get to know the great stories of the Bible and how they connect with one another, and to forge new and deep friendships as you walk through this together. More information will be coming next week, and we will be handing out copies of the story in the next couple of weeks, so you can have a copy as well.

I hope to see you all this coming weekend, and we hope you will help us build on the momentum from the 60th anniversary!

Blessings,

Sonny
